Footprints of Faith

Today I joined a host of old friends in paying tribute to a life well-lived at the homegoing service of Dan Hoffpauir. Dan and Edith were two of the heroes of my youth. Dan was instrumental in leading my oldest brother to the Lord, and Edith played a vital role in my own faith journey, especially during my teen years. Like a lot of kids, I had a sharp eye for anything phony, but these two never disappointed me. Their faith was an integral part - the ultimate definition - of who they were and how they lived. They were the "real deal," and the care and encouragement they poured into people was always authentic.

Their generation is slipping away from us so quickly. It is humbling to realize that my children and their friends must now search for role models of faith among my peer group. I could never hope to fill the shoes of the saints of my youth. But today, as I've reflected on the life and faith of Dan Hoffpauir, I've been asking God to help me follow the footprints.

Hi Aunt Jackie~
Welcome to the blogging world!!! Thanks so much for starting a blog! I wish that I could have been at the funeral! Donna Watkins Everhart was telling me that Dale was in charge of the service and she had heard that he did an awesome job. Do you have an update on Ray? I heard that he was doing better.
I love you!
Deb

Hi Jackie. It's a blast from the past, Michael Hood. Deb connected me with you through our facebook connection. You need to join the crowd, it is so much fun connecting with everyone. I missed you last week. I was in LC for mom's surgery and stuck at the hospital and couldn't make it to the funeral home. Heard I missed seeing many from the good ole days. Your tribute to Dan was great. He was a true gentleman. My email address is michaelhoodtx@aol.com and I'm still in Houston (21 years now). I ran across a pic of you, your mom and Mona Donahoe(SP?) in Duncan from many years ago. I hope to scan it and place it on Facebook with a bunch of others from year's past. It was so good to finally track you down. Isn't internet great! Take care. Michael
